About St Francis of Assisi Early Learning Centre
St Francis of Assisi Early Learning Centre will provide education in Tuggeranong; for families in the suburbs of Calwell, Theodore, Richardson, Isabella Plains, Bonython, Conder, Gordon, Banks, Tharwa and Royalla. We offer high-quality preschool education for four-year-olds, catering for children in the year prior to school. Each preschool has 22 children, led by qualified early childhood teachers and educators.
St Francis of Assisi Early Learning Centre is part of the Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CECG), which operates 56 Catholic Systemic Schools and nine Early Learning Centres across ACT and NSW.

About the Role
An exciting and rewarding opportunity exists to support the implementation of the mission of Catholic education and to provide high quality service and programs for children in the year before formal school at St Francis of Assisi ELC, Calwell.
The Early Childhood Educator will work as a part of a team striving for excellence in teaching and learning, where relationships and partnerships are nurtured and respected, where children feel safe and develop a strong sense of identity.
This appointment is temporary to replace an employee who is on parental leave. The incumbent is entitled to return earlier to their substantive position in accordance with the Fair Work Act 2009.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning, implementing and evaluating a high-quality preschool program guided by the Early Years Learning Framework in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
- Contribute to daily routines, in open communication with the classroom teacher and other team members.
- Collect observational data for individual children and/or groups of children for programming and planning purposes.
- Collaborate with members of the ELC team to deliver the preschool programs.
- Adhere to safe practices, policies and procedures.
- Be attentive to children and provide an appropriate level of comfort.
- Work in accordance with the licensing requirements of the ACT Children’s Education Care Assurance (CECA) meeting Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Quality Standard.
- Participate in ongoing staff professional development and appraisal programs.
- Participate in ELC staff meetings and contribute to the development of the centre’s Quality Improvement plan.
Qualifications
- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
- Certificates in First Aid (HLTAID004) & Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
- Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) approved qualifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care; or
- Diploma in Children’s Services; or
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care; or
- Certificate III in Education Support (birth to 12); or
- Certificate III in Children’s Services.

- Ability to provide high quality care to preschool children and support children in the classroom.
- Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively in a team environment.
- Commitment to developing positive relationships with families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with staff, families and children.
- Commitment to self-development and improvement within the field of Early Childhood education.
- Ability to work with different multimedia platforms and support the programming, development and implementation of these platforms.
