About the Role
An exciting and rewarding opportunity exists to support the implementation of the mission of Catholic education and to provide high quality service and programs for children in the year before formal school at St Francis of Assisi ELC, Calwell. The Early Childhood Educator will work as a part of a team striving for excellence in teaching and learning, where relationships and partnerships are nurtured and respected, where children feel safe and develop a strong sense of identity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, implementing and evaluating a high-quality preschool program guided by the Early Years Learning Framework in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
  • Contribute to daily routines, in open communication with the classroom teacher and other team members.
  • Collect observational data for individual children and/or groups of children for programming and planning purposes.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with members of the ELC team to deliver preschool programs.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all the children while at the Centre through modelling good practice.
  • Engage and communicate with children in a positive manner, giving each child attention and appropriate comfort as required.
  • Work within the Education and Care National Quality Framework including National Law, Regulations and National Quality Standards.
  • Understand and work according to the Centre’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing staff professional development and appraisal programs.
  • Participate in ELC staff meetings and contribute to the development of the centre’s Quality Improvement plan.

Qualifications

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registrations.
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or
  • Diploma in Children’s Services, or
  • Certificate III in Children’s Services, and
  • Certificates in First Aid (HLTAID004) & Asthma and Anaphylaxis.

  1. Ability to provide high quality care to preschool children and support children in the classroom.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively and inclusively in a team environment.
  3. Commitment to developing positive relationships with families.
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality with staff, families and children.
  5. Commitment to self-development and improvement within the field of Early Childhood education.
  6. Ability to work with different multimedia platforms.

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.
