Teach Where You’re Truly Needed – And Truly Valued.

Discover Teaching in Tasmanian Government Schools.

From vibrant Hobart to welcoming regional and remote communities, Tasmania offers more than just a teaching role - it offers a lifestyle, a purpose, and a place to belong.

If you're looking for more than just a job, this is your opportunity to build a career where your expertise is respected, your growth is supported, and your work genuinely makes a difference. Start your day surrounded by natural beauty and finish knowing you’ve had a meaningful impact on the lives of young people.

What roles and opportunities are there?

The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is seeking Teachers at all career stages to join Tasmanian Government schools. Opportunities are available across District Schools, High Schools, Isolated Schools, our Hard-to-staff Schools and Support Schools, in a wide range of learning areas including:

  • English
  • Mathematics and Science (STEM)
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Health and Physical Education

We have a strong and ongoing demand for secondary teachers, particularly in STEM, as well as experienced educators who can lead within the classroom and support the growth of others through mentoring and collaboration.

Opportunities are also available in regional and more isolated communities - particularly in the North-West and West Coast - where your skills are highly valued and your impact is significant.  These roles offer a chance to be part of close-knit school communities, build strong connections, and experience a unique and rewarding lifestyle.
