About Us:

The Department of Education International (DEi) sits within the Policy, External Relations, Racing and International (PERI) branch of the Department of Education. DEi contributes to the social and economic prosperity of Queensland. It delivers internationally-recognised products and services, working with key partners and community and supporting global learning and engagement in our schools.

Educational Queensland International (EQI) is the commercial arm of DEi. It delivers internationally recognised fee-for-service education products and programs that support global learning and engagement in our schools.

The commercial activities currently undertaken by EQI include:

  • onshore programs—International Student Programs (international students coming to Queensland for an education experience), study tours and professional visits; and
  • offshore programs—exporting products, services, expertise and staff to provide the Australian/Queensland Curriculum and Queensland education experience in other countries.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the analysis, design and implementation of effective financial policies, procedures and practices including budgeting and oversee financial management activity, accountability and reporting in accordance with these policies, procedures and practices.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a digital initiative's roadmap and information technology services and lead and direct project teams and undertake planning, analysis and development of strategic digital initiatives.
  • Lead strategic business planning, including workforce planning, corporate reporting, data collection systems and budget process improvement in accordance with applicable legislation, policies and guidelines to ensure successful management commercial and non-commercial activities while complying with government requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership across the corporate services portfolio, initiating and implementing change across HR, finance, IT, administration and governance streams to ensure the continuous improvement of service delivery and ensure the unit is a high-performing enabling function supporting the workforce and resource management priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong productive and strategic partnerships and networks within the department and across the broader public sector to identify issues, facilitate and contribute to positive outcomes for stakeholders and ensure goals are met.

About You:

  • Demonstrated expert ability to respond to challenges, at a senior level, including the ability to provide strategic leadership and expert advice on all aspects of corporate governance.
  • Demonstrated highly developed conceptual and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse evidence, and provide strategic advice on policies, strategies and solutions with respect to complex problems relating to finance, workforce and governance management.
  • High-level knowledge of contemporary business, finance and corporate services strategies.
  • Highly developed leadership skills in leading effective teams, driving performance and achieving effective service delivery.
