The Director of Advancement reports to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborates closely with the Headmaster and School Leadership to deliver whole-school philanthropy and advancement outcomes. The Director of Advancement provides strategic leadership in philanthropy and community engagement with a focus on building partnerships, programs and systems from the ground up. This newly established role represents a rare opportunity to build and shape an integrated advancement program that honours the School’s heritage and supports Knox’s long-term vision and future aspirations. The Director of Advancement will be a collaborative, innovative, and emotionally intelligent leader with high ethical integrity, resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for education and community impact.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Substantial experience in philanthropy, advancement and fundraising, ideally within Independent Schools or the not-for-profit sector.
- Strategic, hands-on leadership with proven ability to build and deliver a sustainable advancement and philanthropy program from strategy to delivery, including success in major gifts and campaigns.
- Operational acumen in establishing and managing advancement systems, processes, budgets, compliance obligations and risk to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
- Strong planning and analytical skills, supported by digital proficiency in CRM systems, communication tools and data to drive informed decision-making and campaign effectiveness.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders, managing change, building trusted relationships, and enhancing the culture of giving.
- Commitment to advancing the vision, mission and Christian ethos of Knox Grammar School through ethical integrity and a genuine passion for education.
With a negotiable commencement date, applicants must have the right to work in Australia and hold relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, public relations, events or a related field.
