About the Role:

The Department of Education International (DEi) sits within the Policy, External Relations and International (PERI) branch of the Department of Education. DEi contributes to the social and economic prosperity of Queensland. It delivers internationally-recognised products and services, working with key partners and community and supporting global learning and engagement in our schools. The Department of Education International (DEi), delivers social, cultural and economic benefits to Queensland by providing quality international education products and services to Queensland schools, and domestic and international clients. Educational Queensland International (EQI) is the commercial arm of DEi. It delivers internationally recognised fee-for-service education products and programs that support global learning and engagement in our schools.

The commercial activities currently undertaken by EQI include:

  • onshore programs - International Student Programs (international students coming to Queensland for an education experience), study tours and professional visits; and
  • offshore programs - Exporting products, services, expertise and staff to provide the Australian/Queensland Curriculum and Queensland education experience in other countries.

As the Director, International Business, you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead and manage the international recruitment and marketing portfolio in a dynamic environment, enhancing the EQI brand globally and driving increased numbers of international admissions to meet specific revenue targets.
  • Lead a team of recruitment and marketing specialists focused on:
    • increasing DEi's market share with regard to inbound and offshore education services
    • promoting and increasing awareness of DEi's capability in delivering education services inbound and offshore
    • generating new business opportunities through linkages and networks with domestic and international agencies, institutions, Government and non-Government organisations
    • sustaining and managing existing international client and agent relationships including regular review of these relationships and
    • managing and training agents to DEi Quality Assurance Standards
  • Develop and implement business plans for each key market segment to ensure that EQI achieves its commercial targets as identified within DEI's business plans.
  • Provide leadership and demonstrated practice in coordinating the development, implementation and distribution of market research activities and outcomes.
  • Provide expert high-level advice to the Minister, Director-General, Deputy Director-General, Assistant Director-General, Executive Director and senior managers within DEi on issues of significance relating to the branch's commercial activities.

Successful candidates will:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of international education in Australia.
  • Experience in business, international business and marketing would be an advantage.
  • Display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Possess high-level of integrity.
