About the Opportunity:
Governance, Strategy and Planning supports evidence-based decision-making across the department by leading contemporary strategy development, governance, planning, portfolio reporting, and management and maturity development for customer complaints, human rights, risk, and policy and procedure.
As the Director you will:
- Provide leadership in corporate governance and accountability through the effective development and implementation of frameworks and systems that positively position the department through governance, strategic and operational planning, service design, business review, portfolio, program and project management, reporting, performance and risk management.
- Drive and coordinate the department's input into whole of government and national activities that can inform the department's decision making and future directions.
Responsibilities include:
- lead development of departmental strategies for early childhood and education including the Department of Education Strategic Plan, working closely with other divisions
- oversee implementation of departmental strategy, including monitoring and evaluation
- support senior executives in the policy development of strategic initiatives
- deliver visualisation and design across a range of projects and activities to support innovative and engaging communication

- be able to refine and articulate the strategic intentions of the department by building evidence and analysing issues, and synthesising complex information into clear, user-friendly outputs
- work collaboratively with peers and stakeholders to successfully develop and implement strategy and policy
- lead and influence others by thinking creatively, communicating complex concepts and making informed recommendations to Executives.
