About this job

Leading these activities requires a nuanced understanding of the development of curriculum-aligned materials, with a particular focus on supporting implementation of the Prep to Year 10 Australian Curriculum (version 9) and curriculum, teaching and learning strategic initiatives for Queensland state schools and regions. It also requires a moderate understanding of website development processes, including creative design and production of materials, as well as close collaboration with other CTL team leaders to support the development, design and roll-out of CTL initiatives, materials, websites and resources aligned to Equity and Excellence.

About the Role

You will be:

  • leading the development and implementation of Australian Curriculum (version 9) planning and assessment materials, and their production materials, in relation to CTL's deliverables and projects;
  • providing high level support and advice to the Executive Director in relation to projects across the unit;
  • leading, coordinating and undertaking high level strategic activities to support business priorities and the provision of advice to CTL teams, the Executive Director and (to a lesser extent) the Assistant Director-General and Deputy Director-General on matters relating to Prep to Year 10 curriculum implementation, resource development, web development and production design;
  • fostering collaboration with external networks (including school leaders and regional officers) and liaising with senior officers and CTL teams for the development of initiatives, deliverables and projects aligned to curriculum work and Equity and Excellence priorities;
  • leading and developing a team of professional staff to deliver outcomes consistent with organisational, strategic and CTL directives; and
  • overseeing high level submissions, reports, papers, statements, briefings and correspondence on complex issues related to Prep to Year 10 curriculum implementation.

The role also provides high-level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to CTL.

Prior experience in leading initiatives, in the context of developing curriculum-aligned resources as well as production design, would be of value to the successful applicant.

  • has detailed knowledge and understanding of curriculum and curriculum implementation
  • leads and manages change with highly skilled and experienced central, regional and school staff to best support state schools leaders, teachers and learners, providing high level strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General and senior officers of the department
  • demonstrates a proven ability to develop strong partnerships that enhance learning outcomes
  • demonstrates communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders
