About the Role 
St Francis Xavier College is seeking to recruit a Coordinator of Design and Technology to join our team. The Design and Technology Coordinator plays a vital role in the College by providing staff and student support and advice in teaching and learning and creating an environment where teaching and learning are valued. The College is seeking a person who is committed to the vision of the College ‘Living the truth, leading with courage, learning for life’ who is invested in and who will promote the mission of Catholic education. The successful applicant will be an experienced educator, will have demonstrated successful experience in curriculum leadership and will possess initiative, integrity and vision.

The Design and Technology Coordinator provides expert leadership in curriculum, teaching and learning in junior and senior studies, utilising best practice in current research, evidence and innovation to meet the needs of all learners. As a member of the Curriculum Leadership team, the Design and Technology Coordinator reports to the Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning and to the Principal in realising the vision and mission of the College.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
  • Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) registration.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Extensive teacher experience and demonstrated curriculum experience.
  2. Highly sophisticated written and verbal communication skills for a range of audiences.
  3. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum, ACT BSSS policy and procedure, professional practice in education, relevant legislation, and current research in education.
  4. The ability to work collaboratively as a member of the Curriculum Leadership Team, to plan and implement whole school goals and to affect change.
  5. Demonstrated experience in implementing policy and strategic directions to improve student learning and wellbeing.
  6. The ability to form productive partnerships and constructive relationships with staff, students, families and College partners.
  7. The ability to lead administrative tasks to ensure the College meets it legislative and regulatory responsibilities.
