The Western Cape College is a unique state school with two campuses located in Mapoon (P-6), and Weipa (P-12), as well as a secondary residential facility also located in Weipa. About the Role

As a member of the Secondary leadership team the Deputy Principal will lead, implement, and monitor initiatives and programs aligned to the College's multi-tiered system of student support providing a team approach to student engagement and behaviour, and rigour for all secondary students.

Reporting to the Associate Principal Secondary, in addition to the responsibilities outlined in the generic role description, the responsibilities of the Deputy Principal Student Support include, but are not limited to: -

  • Lead the implementation of the "The WCC Way" our college-wide framework for fostering Wellbeing, Engagement, and Learning, with a primary focus on the holistic development of each child.
  • Lead a cohesive team, committed to advancing the educational and personal growth of our students.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Build highly effective relationships within and beyond the school community, including students and families from diverse backgrounds and community agencies.
  • Work with and provide tools for the school leadership team, Head of Departments, Student support team members, Guidance Officers and teachers to utilise in relation to student achievement and attendance.
