About Us:

QETC is a multi-campus Department of Education school operating within South-East Queensland's Youth Detention Centres at Wacol. QETC is a school that caters to male and female students from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences. Our vision is one of equity and excellence in a progressive, high performing education system that realises the potential of every student. It is intended that young people will only be held on remand at this centre for short periods with the delivery of educational programs operating on a maximum of 1:4 teacher student ratio. WYRESH will operate under a separate operating model, which will be collaboratively developed in consultation with Youth Justice and key stakeholders over the coming months. Upon establishment, the Wacol Youth Remand Centre can facilitate up to 76 students.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Assist the Head of Campus to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students;
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity;
  • Deputise for the Head of Campus when required;
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life;
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance;
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development;
