About St George State School

St George State School is one of 42 schools participating in the Partnership Initiative. The school celebrates 150 years of state education in 2024. The school has classes from Prep to Year 6, with the majority being multi-age eg 1/2, 3/4, 5/6. Specialist teachers include The Arts, Science and HPE, and Instrumental Music is offered to students in Year 4-6. Indigenous Languages (Kamilaroi and Mandandanji) are taught to students in Year 5 and 6.

About the Role

Reporting to the Principal, you will work closely with the Leadership Team of St George State School. This team includes the School Community Partnership Facilitator, HOD-C, Cluster HOSES and PCL Coach.

Within this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Improve the educational outcomes of students
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, understanding and attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build trusting relationships with parents, community members and service providers to support all students at school to be successful.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the effective teaching of reading in the Australian Curriculum using evidence-based practices.
  • Understanding of the key pedagogies that support success for I/EALD learners.
  • Ability to identify patterns and trends in whole-school, cohort and individual data sets (Educational achievement and Wellbeing and engagement) and determine next steps for improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage student behaviour by supporting implementation of the school's Positive Culture for Learning (PBL) multi-tiered systems of support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and lead teams including teachers and teacher aides to support curriculum delivery and student learning outcomes.
