Position Information

Dubbo College Senior Campus (DCSC) delivers a wide range of Stage 6 courses examined or assessed for the Higher School Certificate and is a part of Dubbo College, a three-campus collegiate. Dubbo College provides secondary education services to more than 1800 students from Dubbo and surrounding communities. 

Student enrolment is currently 629. 30.5% of students identify as having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) background. There are nine classes in the Support Unit.

DCSC provides a broad range of curriculum offerings comprising 47 New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) courses, 8 school-delivered Vocational Education and Training (T-VET) courses and 10 TAFE delivered Vocational Education and Training (e-VET) courses. Teaching staff engage in regular professional learning so high impact evidence-based teaching strategies are embedded in all course programs. 

High expectations for students and support for them to develop capabilities as independent self-motivated learners are central to all DCSC programs and activities. A broad and challenging curriculum at DCSC provides students with choice and access designed to unleash the learning potential in all.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. A highly visible, approachable leader with a demonstrated capacity to work as a member of the Senior Executive team, utilising outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to promote a culture of continuous improvement, advancing equitable outcomes and experiences for all learners.
  2. Positive and strategic leadership that builds staff capacity and collective responsibility to lead improvement, innovation and change through the implementation of effective systems, processes and practices that are focused on the achievement of the priorities of the School Excellence Plan.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to actively engage with and become an integral part of the Dubbo community with a particular focus on building positive partnerships and relationships with the local Aboriginal community to enhance cultural awareness and support the educational needs of Aboriginal students.
  4. Proven ability to lead effectively within a Stage 6 environment by driving the implementation of a diverse range of curricula for the HSC, fostering continuous improvement to advance student achievement and support well-being through strategic and collaborative management practices.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
