This Role is a Full Time, 5 Year Contract commencing in 2021. 

About the role

The purpose of the Deputy Principal – Primary is to exercise leadership and assist with management of the College in accordance with Catholic Education policy and in consultation with other stakeholders as appropriate and with due reference to Catholic Education structures, processes and practices.

The Deputy Principal as a member of the Leadership Team, assists the Principal in the leadership of Southern Cross Catholic College. By negotiation the Deputy Principal, may be expected to assume the delegated role of the Principal in his absence.

Role responsibilities and accountabilities

The Deputy Principal - Primary Assists the Principal under the 6 dimensions of leadership. 

Faith and Mission Leadership
Act as a leader within the school faith community, including but not limited to:
 - Develop, nurture, maintain and celebrate the school's Catholic Identity 
 - Act in a spirit of co-responsibility as part of the Church
 - Promote Catholic Identity through culture, gospel values, evangelisation, faith education, liturgy and prayer

Educational Leadership
 - Teaching and Learning (P-6) Coordination
 - Timetabling (PPCT, Specialist Learning, Teacher Aides, Duty Rosters)
 - Behaviour management, including the provision of uninterrupted learning and diverse student needs

Staff Leadership
 - Teacher development and improvement initiatives
 - Beginning Teacher Mentoring Support Program
 - Health and Wellbeing
 - Coordination/facilitation of Staff Meetings

Community Leadership
 - Coordination of Information Nights, Open Days and Expos
 - Volunteer coordination and induction
 - Establish and maintain parent support groups (e.g. School Board, Parents and Friends Association)
 - Coordination of parent/teacher Interviews

Strategic Leadership
 - Resource Management and allocation (Including Tuckshop and Teacher Room)
 - Monitor student enrolments and attendance
 - Ensure the use of data informed practices

Organisational Leadership
 - Establish and maintain effective communication and decision-making processes
 - Lead the development of school policies in collaboration with the school community
 - Maintain effective administration practices, including reporting and evaluation
