About this job
About the Partnership Initiative
This role is to support the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Strategy through the Partnership Initiative project piloting the delivery of tailored and differentiated support to 42 regional, rural and remote Queensland schools.
The pilot will be rolled out over three years and may establish parameters and requirements for longer-term support to deliver effective responses to community challenges and opportunities. The objective of the initiative is to enable participating schools to collaborate with community partners and government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies.
Schools participating in the Partnership Initiative will strengthen relationships between the school, early childhood education and care services, the community, government agencies and local businesses and organisations delivering services to the local area.
Place-based approaches draw from an evidence base that shows outcomes for children, students, families and communities are strengthened when services and supports are integrated across government, industry and local communities. The initiative supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision making to lift learning and life outcomes for young indigenous Australians.
About the Area and School Campuses
Considered the gateway to the Torres Strait, the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) region is a narrow peninsula bordered by the Coral Sea in the east, the Arafura Sea and Gulf of Carpentaria to the west and the Torres Strait to the north. The NPA region is made up of five First Nations communities; Injinoo, Umagico, Bamaga, New Mapoon and Seisa; each with its own history, languages and traditions strongly influenced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.
The Northern Peninsula Area State College (NPASC) is a K-12 College with 3 campuses. Amy Mary Eseli Injinoo Campus and Bamaga Junior Campus are primary campuses which have Kindergarten to Year Six, while the Years Seven to Twelve secondary needs are met by the Bamaga Secondary Campus.
