About this job

The Deputy Principal will lead the implementation of the Reading Strategy as a whole school approach through embedding systematic processes to support staff capability to teach reading. They will work in collaboration to introduce the changes and to modify the reading program and strategies used.

The Deputy Principal will work towards improving student engagement, and support existing wellbeing, behaviour management and attendance processes, through the development of the Student Learning and Wellbeing Framework, engaging students, parents, staff and the wider community to develop partnerships and support networks.

The Deputy Principal will apply an inclusive and data-informed approach to continue to build staff capability to further enhance strategies to differentiate for diverse student needs.

To fulfil the role you need to:

  • Be a good communicator
  • Have superior time management skills
  • Have experience in developing programs and curriculum
  • Have skills to lead and support staff

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.
