Mackay Northern Beaches State High School is the newest secondary school in Mackay. The school is seeking a dedicated Deputy Principal to join the progressive Leadership team from 2025. This position will be suited to an energetic and future-focused individual who has the ability to balance the competing agendas of this multifaceted role to positively influence positive student learning outcomes. Their practice needs to have a strong student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents and the community. The successful applicant for this position will possess strong relational capabilities to ensure successful whole-school strategic leadership within the Executive Team.

The school is seeking a dedicated Deputy Principal, with a focus on the Senior School, to join the progressive Leadership Team permanently from January 23rd, 2025.

As a member of the school executive team, you will play a key role in shaping the schools 2025 AIP and leading and delivering its implementation as part of high performing and dynamic leadership team.

Essential skills and knowledge required of a Deputy Principal at Mackay Northern Beaches SHS:

As the Deputy Principal your responsibilities will include:

  • Experience in leading teaching and learning, particularly in relation to implementation of version 9.0 Australian Curriculum and QCAA senior schooling programs
  • Experience in OneSchool timetable development, as well as supervision management
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and positively as part of a team
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead complex change
  • Be organised and manage time effectively
  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for senior school students.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.
