Kuraby State School caters for Prep to Year 6 with enrolments of approximately 320 students. Our school is surrounded by green bushland with beautifully landscaped grounds, and well maintained sporting facilities. About the Role

As the Deputy Principal, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Provide strong leadership and support to staff, delivering the Department's vision of Equity and Excellence from prep to year 2.
  • Drive high-quality curriculum delivery and innovative teaching practices in early years.
  • Work collaboratively with DP 3-6 and teachers to enhance student engagement, achievement, and well-being.
  • Mentor and develop staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Relevant teaching and leadership experience in early childhood or primary education, with experience in age appropriate pedagogies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and instructional practices, including V9 implementation, driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver best practice aligned with teaching reading through the Australian Curriculum.
  • Knowledge of high impact teaching strategies to enhance outcomes for our high percentage of EALD learners
  • Training in 'Sounds Write' or a willingness to undertake training is desirable, though not essential.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, and empower others, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, with a strategic mindset and a commitment to achieving team goals and excellence in all aspects of school life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a commitment to building positive relationships with staff, students, and the community.
