About Edge Hill State School

Established in February 1940, our school opened its doors with a single teacher, one classroom, and a mission to meet the educational needs of local families.

Rooted in an area initially utilised for primary industry and Chinese market gardening, our school has weathered the challenges of record wet seasons, cyclones, and the uncertainties of World War II. Despite these adversities, the original school building proudly stands, a testament to our resilience and commitment to education.

Since its inception, Edge Hill State School has experienced continuous growth and expansion. Today, we stand as one of the largest public primary schools in Cairns, with additional buildings, modern play spaces, and enhanced amenities contributing to a dynamic learning environment.
