Step Into Your Next Chapter:

The Deputy Principal at Caravonica State School provides strategic leadership in student engagement, behaviour and inclusion, driving whole-school behaviour systems, MTSS and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), and building staff capability through coaching and professional learning.

Working collaboratively with the Principal, leadership team, staff, students and families, the role strengthens engagement, enhances wellbeing and supports evidence-based practices that improve student outcomes.

Key priorities include aligning reading practices with the state-wide Reading Strategy, embedding ACv9 in English and Mathematics, and implementing MTSS to ensure a predictable, inclusive and supportive learning environment grounded in our PBL values of Caring, Safe and Successful.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading whole-school initiatives that strengthen student engagement, and collaborating with year-level teams to implement engagement strategies, early intervention processes and MTSS-aligned supports.
  • Leading the refinement of the school's PBL framework, supporting staff to embed effective classroom practices, consistent routines and preventative behaviour strategies.
  • Providing leadership in evidence-based pedagogical practices, including explicit instruction and high-impact teaching strategies.
  • Supporting the maintenance of our high-quality teaching and learning environment.
  • Contributing to whole-school leadership responsibilities and assisting the Principal with strategic planning, staff capability development and daily operational needs.

The Perfect Fit:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build collective efficacy and develop a culture of high expectations and collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive, trauma-informed and relational approaches to student engagement and behaviour.
  • Proven capacity to lead PBL, behaviour frameworks and MTSS processes.
  • Ability to use data to monitor progress and drive school improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with staff, students and families.
