Position Information
Bayside High School is a co-educational Years 7–12 secondary school located in Kogarah, Sydney. In 2026, the school enters its foundational year following the merger of James Cook Boys Technology High School and Moorefield Girls High School, forming a unified and future-focused learning community.

Commencing with approximately 1,000 students, Bayside High School is a culturally and linguistically diverse community, with over 75% of students from non-English speaking backgrounds and many accessing EAL/D support. Once fully established, the school will have the capacity to serve up to 1,650 students.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated exemplary leadership skills and emotional intelligence which builds the capacity of others, and enhances staff cohesion, promoting a culture of high expectations throughout the diverse school community.
2. Demonstrated ability to support the well-being of students through proactive strategies that encourage positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve and maximise the learning outcomes.
3. Proven capacity to be a highly visible collaborative and consultative member of the executive leadership team, leading and supporting initiatives that enhance staff capacity and nurture positive relationships with students’ parents and the wider community
4. Demonstrated school instructional leadership, focused on reflective evidence based and data informed practises with the ability to strategically lead change that results in academic and personal growth and realises the school’s strategic directions.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
