About Barcaldine State School

Barcaldine Prep-12 State School is located in the township of Barcaldine in Central West Queensland, approximately 600 km west of Rockhampton. In 2012 the school celebrated its 125th Anniversary with many reunions and whole community events. Barcaldine is the home of the Tree of Knowledge, site of the Shearer's Strikes and often acknowledged as the birthplace of the Labor Party as well as the Conservative party of the time. The Australian Workers' Heritage Centre is located here and the community also has the Wanpa-rda Outdoor Education Centre co-located with the Australian Workers' Heritage Centre.

It offers a quality co-educational program for students from Preparatory Year to Year 12. Enrolment trends over the years remain at approximately 280. 

About the Role

As the Deputy Principal you will:

  • Improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

About You

Ideal candidate will have following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated work with Senior Students through QCAA and VET pathways.
  • Demonstrated work with V9 Australian Curriculum in junior secondary, overseing implementation.
  • Demon-started proactive and positive behaviour management inline with school programs.
  • Demonstrated reviews of school based policies and processes that align with the Department of Education.
  • Community involvement along with a collaborative culture mentality.
