Position Information
Armidale Secondary College, Years 7-12, is a partially selective, coeducational high school in the New England region of NSW, with a school population of approx. 1100 students. The school has a focus on high academic achievement and quality teaching in a rich learning environment.
Respect, Responsibility and Resilience are the values of the College. Out mission is to provide a personalised, relevant curriculum within state-of-the-art facilities that inspire and empower both our students and staff.
The College has a support unit and IEC and works closely with our partner primary schools. There is active and supportive parent and community involvement. Extensive co-curricular programs cater for diverse student interests and include sport, dance, drama, music, environment and student leadership.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria
- Demonstrated ability to proactively manage the complex and competing daily priorities of the school using effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and emotional intelligence to deliver school excellence.
- A future focused, highly visible instructional leader with a proven capacity to strategically lead change that results in academic growth and high achievement.
- Demonstrated ability to support and foster authentic connection with stakeholders to deliver excellence in behaviour and wellbeing within a a culture of high expectations.
- Proven ability as an ethical and collaborative leader to work with the Principal and leadership team to create a culture of high expectations that promotes integrity, equity and opportunity for students and staff.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
