Veritas Education is currently recruiting engaging, confident, and adaptable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Dewsbury and the wider Kirklees area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with young people and who are looking to develop their experience within education.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff. You will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared work to classes, managing behaviour in line with school policies, and ensuring students remain focused and supported throughout the lesson.

This role is ideal for:

  • Graduates considering a career in teaching
  • Experienced support staff looking to progress
  • Tutors, youth workers, sports coaches, or those with transferable experience working with young people

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering set work to classes across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Supporting students to stay on task and engage with learning
  • Following safeguarding and behaviour policies in line with DfE and school standards
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff where necessary

    • Requirements

  • Experience working with young people (formal or informal)
  • Confidence in leading a classroom and managing behaviour
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A positive, professional approach in line with school and DfE expectations
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
