Veritas Education is a leading education recruitment agency, specialising in providing highly skilled and passionate professionals to schools across the UK. We are currently supporting a school in Wakefield in their search for a dynamic and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.

Role Overview:As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining a positive and structured learning environment when regular teaching staff are absent. You will be responsible for supervising students during lessons, ensuring that they are engaged with set work, and managing behavior effectively to ensure a productive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students stay on task and complete assigned work.
  • Support students in their learning by providing guidance and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, focused atmosphere.
  • Ensure the health and safety of students during lessons, following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and school leadership to ensure that the lesson plans are followed accurately.
  • Provide feedback on student progress and behavior to relevant staff members.
  • Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom while fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
  • Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an education setting, ideally as a cover supervisor or in a similar role (though not essential).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and school staff.
  • A proactive approach to supporting students and assisting with their learning.
  • Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and subjects quickly.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
