About this job

About the Department of Education:

The Department of Education are dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity. This starts with recruitment and selection. The methods of assessing suitability in the recruitment process may vary. This includes making reasonable adjustments to support applicants at all stages of the process and employee lifecycle.

Your Role:

In the .NET Developer role, you will utilise various tools, languages, and technologies within our Corporate Applications team, such as Visual Studio, C#, .NET Framework and .NET Core, ASP.NET (MVC and Blazor), SQL Server, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Microsoft Azure cloud. Our team is currently migrating applications to .NET Core, Blazor, and Azure, so knowledge or experience in these areas would be highly regarded. You'll have the chance to use your analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to deliver exceptional end-to-end solutions and services to our clients. From understanding complex business needs and devising practical software solutions to writing high-quality code and conducting thorough testing, you'll be involved in every step of the process.

As a Test Engineer, you'll play an important role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products and services. You'll work closely with developers and project managers to create and execute test plans, design test cases, generate test data, and perform both manual and automated testing. Your role will involve building and improving automated test scenarios, identifying and documenting defects, collaborating with the development team to resolve issues, and ensuring our software meets the highest standards of quality and performance. Familiarity with testing tools and methodologies, as well as experience in functional and non-functional testing, is highly desirable.

About You:

To be considered for either of these positions, you should hold (or be working towards) a relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution or an agreed equivalent that is deemed acceptable and relevant to the responsibilities of the role by the Director-General, Department of Education or delegate. Additionally, you should have some understanding of network architecture and security principles. Being a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and collaboration skills is essential for both roles.

We offer a competitive salary package, opportunities for career advancement, and professional development.
