About the Role:
Gordonvale State School is seeking a dedicated Community Education Counsellor to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families. This identified position focuses on strengthening engagement in schooling while promoting and enhancing cultural awareness and understanding across the school community.
In this rewarding position, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Provide educational counselling and support to ensure the best possible outcomes for Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander students, families and communities.
- Foster strong connections by delivering culturally responsive support and advocacy.
- Promote understanding and inclusivity by providing cross-cultural awareness training to the staff and wider school community.
- Participate in the development of activities, in and out of school, likely to enhance the involvement in education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.
- Establish and maintain links with out of school sources of information and support services to assist in the advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and students.
