About Spinifex State College
Spinifex State College is a three campus educational facility. Our Junior Campus caters to years 7-9, Senior Campus years 10-12 and the Residential Campus houses all boarding students.
About the Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Support the LCEB by arranging catering, minute taking and distribution, collecting pay claims from members to achieve the goals in the concept plan;
- Support colleagues with case management data analysis, organise celebration activities for various holidays (e.g., NAIDOC & Reconciliation Week). Provide advice and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students that will engender adoption of attitude and behaviours that assist in maximising educational outcomes. Develop innovative, efficient and effective strategies for building relationships with all stakeholder and client groups;
- Liaise with community service agencies to initiate collaborative action to address community issues that may impact on schools and to link schools and parents with appropriate agencies;
- Facilitate payment, recording and reconciling of all invoices, provide budget reports and reconciliation for LCEB as required ensuring purchasing to be conducted in line with departmental procedures;
- Complete reporting to regional office;
- Promote liaison activities to provide information to key stakeholders and facilitate group development activities to improve relations between the school and its community;
- Provide input into local decision making to ensure the school reflects the community needs;
- Act as the contact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their parents/carers and teachers;
- Carry out clerical and administrative tasks consisting of drafting, planning, writing and publishing communications and other documents, to promote the LCEB to the general public;
- Develop and maintain a register of community and classroom helpers and relevant information for parents/carers.
Mandatory Requirements for and Identified Role:
It is a genuine occupational requirement for Identified roles that the position be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.

For administrative purposes, in relation to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is either:
- of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent;
- accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.
By definition a person who is not an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cannot be employed (on any basis) to perform the duties of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
