About the Opportunity:
Our report card isn't straight As but you'll C we're as close as we can B in the Department of Education's Infrastructure Services Division, Communications and Engagement team!
We're a small, creative comms and engagement team looking for a communications officer to join us in telling the story about how, through building, expanding and improving schools for the growing Queensland population, we are helping to deliver quality education to kids around the state.
Our ideal applicant will be keen to jump in and expand their skills. You'll demonstrate quality written and verbal communication skills that can carry across multiple platforms. You'll love internal comms as much as external comms and know how to meet a deadline and manage competing priorities. Managing working relationships across multi-disciplined teams will energise you. So, if you love to write, you like to research your content, enjoy speaking to people and you know how to paint a picture with words, then you could be the person we need!
About the Role:
As the Communications Officer you will:
- Support the provision of accurate and timely advice in response to ministerial and departmental correspondence, briefs and executive documents.
- Develop and implement communication strategies for stakeholders in relation to the program
Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the development of high quality communications and marketing activities by developing, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving the systems, practices and processes used to communicate with internal and external stakeholders, using a variety of communication channels.
- Prepare and manage communication plans, including detailed communication strategies delivered through a variety of channels that promote the key policies and programs.
- Review and maintain internet and intranet content, monitor information for relevance, consistency and currency, and facilitate timely updates to ensure web content is in line with the strategic objectives of the Building Future Schools Program.
- Assist in the development of systems, procedures and policies that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and provide a quality service to clients.
- Undertake specific tasks to distribute communications to stakeholders, including publication management, news writing, and coordinating promotional events, launches, displays and other promotions.
