Siena Catholic College and Siena Catholic Primary School (Sippy Downs, Sunshine Coast, QLD) is seeking to appoint a Co-curricular Music Teacher – Strings (Violin / Viola).

Approx. 3-4 days (based on enrolments)
Violin / Viola specialist and the ability to teach entry level Double Bass would be preferable
Ability to teach pair and individual lessons
Experience with leading beginner to advanced String Ensembles is essential
Knowledge of, and a willingness to prepare students for external music examinations is also required (AMEB and / or Trinity).
 
The successful applicant will be:

Qualified (with a degree in music and / or education) and / or have appropriate teaching experience within a school environment
Pro-active, enthusiastic and have skills to inspire and nurture the musical aspirations of motivated students from Year 2 to Year 12
Skilled to teach in a variety of musical styles appropriate to the instrument
Literate with technology, show initiative, be organised, prepared and accountable
Willing to connect, contribute and work as part of a team
The ability to teach music theory and any other musical instruments would be an advantage.
The program at Siena is administered by school staff who support all teachers and ensure continued growth, while allowing individual teachers the independence to facilitate lessons based on their area of expertise and style of teaching. Tuition fees are collected by the school and the successful applicant will be guided by the conditions outlined in the BCE position description, school position statement and school officer award. Performances, meetings, reporting, extra-curricular activities and involvement with school ensembles is required. The school has modern, well resourced, air-conditioned teaching studios and all students are taught as individuals or in pairs during school hours and before or after school.

The successful applicant will require a current QLD Working with Children Blue Card (or have current QLD teacher registration) and comply with various Brisbane Catholic Education policies (including Student Protection and Code of Conduct). The latter requires the completion of online training modules prior to commencing the position.

The is a continuing term-time position.
