About Wynnum State High School
Wynnum State High School serves Years 7 to 12's students and includes Industrial, Technology and Design workshops, student kitchens, a café, tuckshop, library, theatre, art rooms, an assembly hall, sports hall, swimming pool and other modern facilities. The school has a PROUD culture and strong connection to history and community. The school was first established in 1942 and is located in Brisbane's Bayside District. The school campus is leafy green and cosy with a student population of more than one thousand. The school is situated next to Memorial Oval and the City/Cleveland train line.
About the Role
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The role involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties aimed at ensuring a clean and safe school environment. Responsibilities include cleaning windows, doors, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, and cupboards, as well as sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays. It also includes maintaining equipment, controlling cobwebs and mildew using extendable tools, and cleaning various surfaces such as concrete, bitumen, asphalt, and paved areas. Other cleaning tasks include dusting furniture and equipment, sweeping, vacuuming, removing graffiti, and maintaining vinyl and timber floors, including buffing, stripping, and polishing.
- Security-related tasks include activating and deactivating school security systems, and locking or unlocking buildings as needed. The role also involves liaising with the Principal or Business Manager regarding the purchase and replacement of cleaning materials. Additionally, the person in this role will report security, safety, or damage concerns to the Principal, Business Manager, or Schools Officer (Facilities and/or Grounds) and refer members of the public to the relevant school personnel.
- Other duties include the disposal of rubbish and litter control, removal of materials from drains and gutters, and performing any other appropriate cleaning tasks as directed by the Principal or Business Manager. The position may require taking on additional suitable responsibilities consistent with the role, as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
Candidate Qualities
- Our ideal candidate would be an experienced school cleaner. However, anyone willing to work hard will find the role satisfying. Someone who is independent but can who can also work in a team is highly desired. As an on-call casual you will often need to step in with little notice, communicate with others and take charge of the situation.
