About the School 

Mitchelton Special School caters for around 100 students from the ECDP to Year 12. We are situated in a cul-de-sac walking distance from Mitchelton train station. We have just completed significant building works on site to cater to the growing needs of our school community.

With the completion of our new building works our facilities include:

  • 28 general classrooms
  • Library
  • Sensory room
  • Fully accessible catering kitchen for senior programs
  • Cafe area
  • 2 multipurpose rooms
  • Inground trampolines
  • Accessible garden beds
  • Undercover area
  • Primary School and High School Play areas

Our school is fully airconditioned to ensure the environment is kept at a comfortable temperature for our students to optimise their ability to learn.

We have 3 school buses which are used to transport students to community based learning opportunities, including our Pathways students to Off campus skill development programs to local businesses. 

About the Role

The role will be working with 4 other Permanent cleaners who have worked at Mitchelton Special School for numerous years.

The successful applicant will be provided with Department based training and a School induction program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors and cupboards.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Cobweb and mildew control, utilising extendable equipment as necessary.
  • Cleaning of concrete, bitumen, asphalt and paved surfaces.
  • Disposal of rubbish and litter control including removal of material from drains and gutters between and/or surrounding buildings.
