About the Role

As the Cleaner, you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing a high level of cleaning support. You will ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by the supervisor in accordance with the approved school cleaning program. The Cleaner reports to the school Principal and Small School Business Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors and cupboards.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Cleaning of concrete and paved surfaces.
  • Disposal of rubbish and litter control.
  • Dusting including student and office furniture, equipment and fans.
  • Hosing areas within the school.
  • Sweeping and vacuuming.
  • Removal of graffiti.
  • Other appropriate cleaning duties as directed by the Principal and Business Manager.
  • Locking and unlocking buildings.
  • Liaising with the Principal and Business Manager concerning purchase and/or replacement of cleaning materials.
  • Reporting security, safety, damage concerns to the Principal and Business Manager or Schools Officer (Facilities and/or Grounds).
  • Referring members of the public to relevant school personnel as required.

The ideal candidate should be motivated, able to work independently and committed to cleaning the school to a high standard. They will work with the existing staff team to develop and work towards agreed goals and outcomes within the school.

Hours can be negotiated with the Principal and either worked before or after school.
