About Us:

The Nawarddeken Academy offers a unique model of bi-cultural, community-driven education in remote Indigenous communities in west Arnhem Land. The Nawarddeken Academy was established at the request of local Indigenous elders, who wanted desperately for children to be able to access fulltime education in their home communities. 

Nawarddeken Academy operates three schools within the IPA: Kabulwarnamyo, Manmoyi, and Mamadawerre. 

Position Available:

Are you a dedicated educator seeking an opportunity to make a real difference? Nawarddeken Academy is currently seeking passionate teachers to join our team for Semester 2 of 2024 and the start of 2025. This is your chance to work in a unique and culturally immersive environment, where you can have a profound impact on the lives of Indigenous children.

Opportunities available:

We have a variety of teaching and leadership positions available due to our current staff taking study leave, maternity leave, and others who have completed their contracts. This presents an exciting chance for motivated individuals to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission of providing quality education while fostering cultural pride and environmental stewardship.

Selection Criteria:

1.    Experience in teaching mulltiple Key Learning Areas of the Australian Curriculum

2.    Knowledge and capacity, or willingness to develop competency, in explicitly teaching  foundational literacy and numeracy skills

3.    Understanding of differentation across multi-aged classrooms

4.    Experience in working in a remote context

5.    Personal philosophy regarding teaching and behaviour management.
