Salary Range: Graduate $86,600 to Lead Teacher $147,048 FTE Gross per annum

St Gerard Majella School, Woree

St Gerard Majella School is a co-educational Catholic primary school in the Cairns southern suburb of Woree. With a healthy enrolment of around 400 students from Prep to Year Six, the school has always been a highly regarded and well-sought-after Catholic primary school.

Located in the rapidly developing southern suburbs of Cairns, St Gerard Majella School is situated in a beautiful setting at the base of Red Hill. About the Role

The specialist teacher will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum, specifically in Digital and Design Technologies for Year 1 and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) for Prep, as well as relevant National Standards, Diocesan, and school-based curriculum frameworks and policies. They will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a sense of belonging while catering to the diverse learning needs of early years students.

The specialist teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to enhance student learning and wellbeing, contribute to whole-school curriculum initiatives, and engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice. They will effectively implement the Prep HASS focus areas—supporting students to explore their personal and social worlds—and the Year 1 Technologies curriculum, enabling students to design, create, and interact with digital solutions in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.

The successful applicant will use a variety of effective teaching, assessment, and data-informed practices to monitor student progress, differentiate learning experiences, and support each child’s growth. They will promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving while building essential digital literacy skills and early social understanding.

Work Requirements
