School Caretaker - Full-Time, Long-Term

About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a reliable and proactive School Caretaker for a full-time, long-term position with an immediate start available.
The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the school, helping to maintain a safe, secure, clean and well-maintained environment for students, staff and visitors.
This position would suit someone with previous experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, construction or a similar practical role.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school siteComplete routine checks of the building, grounds and facilitiesEnsure the school site is safe, secure and well maintainedOpen and secure the school premises where requiredSupport with basic plumbing, decorating and general maintenance tasksMonitor heating, lighting and other site facilitiesAssist with moving furniture, equipment and deliveriesMaintain outdoor areas and ensure pathways and entrances are safeReport larger repairs or health and safety concerns to the appropriate member of staffSupport contractors and visitors attending the school siteFollow school safeguarding, security and health and safety proceduresThe Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance or site-based role is desirableGood practical and general maintenance skillsReliable, organised and able to use initiativeComfortable working independently as well as part of a wider school teamGood communication and problem-solving skillsA professional and approachable mannerAwareness of health and safety within the workplaceCommitted to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for young peoplePrevious experience working within a school would be advantageous but is not essential.
