As part of the leadership team, the Business Manager will work in close partnership with the Principal and middle leaders, playing a key role in shaping strategic direction and ensuring the school operates effectively to meet the diverse needs of our students and community.

The Business Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the school's business functions, aligned to departmental requirements and the school's strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading financial management (budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring)
  • Overseeing human resource processes and workforce planning
  • Managing facilities, assets, and procurement.
  • The role also provides high-level advice to the Principal and leadership team, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and the implementation of streamlined administrative systems that support teaching and learning.

Must Have' Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in financial and resource management, including budgeting and reporting
  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and administrative processes within a complex organisation
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and build capability within administrative teams
  • Highly developed organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and influence others
  • Capacity to use data and systems to inform planning, prioritisation, and continuous improvement

Nice to Have' Skills and Experience:

  • Experience within an education setting, particularly a Queensland state school
  • Knowledge of Department of Education systems, policies, and procedures 
  • Experience in asset and facilities management
  • Understanding of workforce planning and HR processes in a public sector context
  • Ability to lead process improvement and drive efficiencies through systems and innovation
