About Paluma Environmental Education Centre
The Paluma Environmental Education Centre has a proud history of providing environmental education learning experiences in the rainforests of the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics. Established on the site of the former Paluma State School, the centre now hosts residential excursions for the groups of visiting students, while also providing outreach and visiting education services to schools around the region. Our Vision Is: Connected, aware and active students contributing towards a sustainable future for all.
About the Role
As Business Manager at the Paluma Environmental Education Centre, you will work as part of a team to support the provision of educational experiences to students from the North Queensland Region and beyond. Your ability to work independently and pro-actively manage work across a broad range of areas including finance, human resources and facilities, will support your success in this varied role.
Your responsibilities and skills may include:
- Well-developed Interpersonal skills and communication skills to liaise with client schools, department business partners, other departments and businesses.
- Supporting the principal in delivering and monitoring centre functions including teaching & learning, excursion booking and maintenance, catering operations, grounds and facilities.
- A high level of attention to detail in utilising computerised information systems relevant to the operations of the centre. e.g. OneSchool, BEMIR
- Supporting improvement opportunities aligned to the Centres Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan though preparation and regular review of the centre budget including day to day financial activities.
- Contributing to workplace health, safety and wellbeing practices throughout the centre.
- Other tasks as described in the Position Description, or as directed by the Principal or their delegate
The position is based at the Administration Office at Vincent, Townsville. Regular travel to our Paluma site is also required. Working from our Paluma location may be negotiated.
