Your Role:

As the Business Manager you will manage the delivery of corporate service functions across the unit ensuring compliance, priorities and adherence to timeframes are achieved and provide professional, advisory and executive support to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure effective management and workflow of the unit's administrative support teams and resources while maintaining high level service to clients ensuring adherence to departmental policy, practices and procedures to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to the Executive Director and Directors in identifying and addressing current and emerging corporate governance and organisational issues which directly impact on the effectiveness, quality service delivery and the achievement of outcomes.
  • Manage, monitor and analyse the budget for the unit and report accurate advice relative to budgetary performance to the Executive Director, Directors, senior management and departmental officers.
  • Undertake complex research (including financial and non-financial performance), analysis and prepare reports, recommendations, submissions, briefing notes and corporate correspondence on a broad range of issues on behalf of the Executive Director and Directors.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and maintain the unit's corporate systems, procedures and policies that ensure the delivery of quality outcomes and continuous improvement relative to purchasing and logistics, asset management, financial systems and reporting, and human resource management and administration systems.

  • Proven experience in a similar management role, with a track record of delivering exceptional corporate services.
  • High-level organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership capabilities and experience managing teams.
  • Understanding of the public sector context and a familiarity with government processes.
