The Business Manager reports to the Head of School, working closely with the Leadership Team to provide strategic financial leadership, operational oversight and governance support across all business functions of the School.
The Business Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across finance, property, risk, compliance and business services in a disciplined, relational and solutions-focused manner. Leading a capable multi-disciplinary team, the role oversees budgeting, financial modelling, capital planning, and commercial activities, while strengthening systems, processes and reporting. A key mandate is to support the delivery of the School’s Master Plan and long-term financial sustainability, while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and service excellence. The role also plays a critical interface between the School, Council and broader community.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and complex modelling expertise
- Lead operational, compliance and risk functions with rigour and clarity
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Drive system improvement, efficiency and organisational discipline
- Develop and mentor high-performing multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to capital planning and major project delivery
Offered as a five-year executive contract with a preferred commencement as soon as possible, applicants must have a right to work in Australia, hold relevant post-graduate tertiary qualifications in finance (CPA/CA preferred), and demonstrate experience in governance and executive leadership (ideally in a school setting).
