Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Business Analyst.  This is a Full Time, Permanent position commencing 7 October 2024.  

About the role

The Business Analyst (BA) is an Information Technology professional who provides advice and guidance to business stakeholders as part of the Information Technology and Services Team (ITS). The BA is responsible for the collection, analysis and documentation of requirements to produce functional and technical specifications for system changes to achieve TCE’s strategic outcomes. Working with key stakeholders, the BA has a delivery focus that works to provide creative solutions for improved services and outcomes within ITS.

The BA will work as part of the Information Technology and Services (ITS) Team to collect, analyse and document services across TCE. Additionally, the Business Analyst will recommend changes to improve and create efficiencies in the business. The BA reports directly to the Project and Portfolio Management Team Leader, Information Technology and Services,  and may lead small projects from time to time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create suggestions and solutions for strategic and operational changes
  • Consider opportunities and risks of these suggestions
  • Plan systems or processes necessary to implement these changes, or alter existing ones
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working arrangement with other teams within ITS, TCE and external service providers, to ensure quality service outcomes for students, teachers, employees and schools
  • Effectively acquire, maintain and improve knowledge of relevant IT standards, best practice and processes to ensure quality service outcomes for students, teachers, employees and schools
  • Participate in determining goals and ITS planning and coordinate their implementation
  • Undertake appropriate IT works to meet agreed service levels
  • Assist in the specification and application of standards within ITS
  • Research and maintain an understanding of the ICT environment
  • Develop and prepare business and analytical reports and respond to internal correspondence
  • Assist in various project activities and programs as required
  • Produce and review outline system designs and specifications and overall architectures, topologies, configuration databases and design documentation of technologies within TCE
  • Other duties as directed.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

  • PRINCE2 Qualifications
  • ITIL4 Qualifications
  • Experience with Business Intelligence systems
  • Relevant industry experience in the education sector.
