We are seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Brent, providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil on a one-to-one basis, supporting their academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour management throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship to encourage engagement in learning
  • Supporting behaviour regulation and implementing agreed behaviour strategies
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support the student's individual needs
  • Promoting positive social interactions and emotional development
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment
  • We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
  • Can remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Is passionate about supporting young people to succeed both academically and personally
  • Can build strong professional relationships with students, staff, and parents
  • Has experience in a school, youth work, mentoring, support work, or similar setting (desirable)
