About the Role

We are seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support the daily running of a specialist SEN centre linked to a mainstream secondary school. This is a long-term, rewarding role supporting students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASD, and behavioural challenges.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SEN Team Leader and wider pastoral staff to create a safe, inclusive, and structured environment where students can thrive both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to students with SEN/SEMH needs.
  • Implement behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies confidently and consistently.
  • Support the smooth running of the SEN centre, ensuring routines and expectations are maintained.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Model emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour at all times.
  • Contribute to safe-guarding and wellbeing processes within the school.
  • Requirements

  • Experience supporting young people with behavioural or social-emotional needs (school or alternative provision experience desirable).
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach.
  • Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
