SEMH Behavioural Intervention Assistant

Are you experienced in managing challenging behaviours and supporting students with SEMH needs? Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference?

Veritas Education is looking for a Behavioural Intervention Assistant to work in a special school in Barnsley, providing focused support to students with SEMH. If you're experienced in behaviour management and have a passion for working with young people, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs by implementing behaviour management plans and strategies.
  • Working closely with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Providing 1:1 support and tailored interventions to help students improve their emotional regulation and social skills.
  • Assisting with de-escalating challenging behaviours and creating a calm, structured environment.
  • Encouraging positive social interaction and helping students develop coping strategies.

    • Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural difficulties is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies (e.g., Team Teach) is a plus.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with students.
