Are you passionate about supporting autistic children and young people to thrive both in and out of the classroom? We are seeking Autism Support Assistants to join a highly regarded all‑through specialist setting in Middlesbrough that provides a nurturing, structured and inspiring environment for pupils aged 3-19 with Autism and associated needs.

This is an environment where staff are dedicated to helping learners grow in independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing. The school follows a holistic, child‑centred approach that supports communication, emotional regulation and life skills-providing an incredibly rewarding place to work for anyone committed to SEN.

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with Autism and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small‑group basis
  • Help learners develop communication, emotional regulation and independence
  • Contribute to a calm, positive, autism‑aware learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist teams
  • Assist with structured routines, sensory support and personalised learning plans
  • The Ideal Candidate

    We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience working with autistic children or young people, or those with SEMH needs
  • A calm, compassionate and resilient approach
  • Strong relationship‑building and communication skills
  • The ability to follow structured routines and use supportive strategies
  • An Enhanced DBS (Child & Adult Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
