Your Role:

As the Attendance Officer you will:  

  • Support a learning environment by monitoring student attendance, producing absence reports for senior leaders, and liaising with parents/carers to verify student absences.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient operations of the school by providing a high level of administrative support to the Principal and Business Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee daily attendance by generating absenteeism reports, sending SMS notifications to parents/carers, following up with teachers, and updating attendance records in Excel and OneSchool.
  • Prepare and distribute the 'Daily Attendance Report' to all teaching staff and deputy principals, ensuring amendments due to late notifications are communicated promptly.
  • Collect and analyse attendance data, document chronic absences, and provide critical information to teachers and school leadership. Collaborate with the Student Support Officer, Head of Special Education Program, and Guidance Officer to address attendance-related challenges.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database that tracks independent students, students in care, and those with legal orders or other circumstances impacting their attendance.
  • Track attendance patterns to identify students facing challenges and enable early intervention. Support teachers by advising them on strategies to address non-attendance issues.
  • Build strong relationships with families of students who have persistent attendance issues, fostering better attendance outcomes and helping teachers address underlying barriers to school participation.
  • Identify and refer at-risk students to appropriate support services, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to overcome obstacles to their attendance and engagement.
  • Provide general administrative support, assist with variations to student timetables (including school-based apprenticeships, work experience, and off-campus activities), and deliver first aid services to students when required.
