About the role:

As the Attendance Officer you will:  

  • Support a learning environment by monitoring student attendance, producing absence reports for senior leaders, and liaising with parents/carers to verify student absences.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient operations of the school by providing a high level of administrative support to the Principal and Business Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generate daily reports on absenteeism, send SMS messages to parents/carers, advise and follow up with teachers, and document relevant information on OneSchool.
  • Generate an 'Attendance Report' providing information to Deputy Principals.
  • Collect and coordinate data to determine and document reasons for absences by students who are chronically absent, provide information to school leaders where necessary, liaising with the Head of Special Education, Deputy Principals and Guidance Officer.
  • Monitor attendance as a means of increasing awareness of students experiencing problems, and to allow for intervention before such problems get out of hand, and provide this information and advice to assist teachers with managing students with non-attendance issues.
  • Daily rollover of data from ID Attend into One School
  • Co-ordinate medical requirements for Sporting activities and Excursions
  • Answer telephone enquiries
  • Filing and archiving
  • Assist with the manual recording of paper Consent Manger forms
  • General administrative duties

Our  ideal candidate would possess these attributes:

  • Effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders face to face, telephone and written communication
  • Knowledge of One School and ID Attend is preferable but not essential
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Show initiative and be flexible to the needs of he school
  • Strong customer service skills, remain calm in unpredictable situations
  • Sound computer skills
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Follow Department of Education processes and protocols
  • Awareness of WHS requirements
  • Willingness to learn and provide exemplary service to our school community
