About the Role

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative and communication skills to play a vital role in supporting student attendance, punctuality, and engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with students, parents/carers, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to promote excellent attendance and help remove barriers to education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record daily student attendance and punctuality
  • Follow up on student absences and lateness with parents/carers
  • Maintain accurate attendance records using school management systems
  • Produce attendance reports for pastoral teams and senior leaders
  • Work with students and families to improve attendance levels
  • Support attendance interventions and action plans
  • Liaise with external agencies where appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and attendance procedures
  • Promote a culture of high attendance and positive engagement across the school

  • Previous experience in a school, administrative, or attendance-related role is desirable
  • Strong organisational and data management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Confident using school management systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Professional, approachable, and able to build positive relationships
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
