Emmaus College is a Prep to Year 12 co-educational ecumenical College which fosters Christian unity through its active partnership with the local Anglican, Catholic, Lutheran and Uniting churches. Currently, the College has a P-12 enrolment of approximately 1570 students.

Emmaus is located on 21 hectares in a quiet bushland setting at 48 East Street, Jimboomba. Research confirms that regular student attendance matters, and that poor attendance, from as early as Prep, has long lasting impacts on a student’s learning and life.

As the Attendance Engagement Officer, you will:

  • Support a learning environment that priorities student attendance by providing a high level of administrative support to the College Leadership Team.
  • Monitor student attendance, use data and reports to inform decision-making and connect with students and families regarding attendance and absenteeism.


Your role

General responsibilities include:

  • Generating daily reports on attendance and absenteeism, sending communication/text messages to parents/carers, following up on unexplained absences and unexplained late arrivals, and documenting communication.
  • Producing the Daily Attendance Report and sharing with relevant staff.
  • Celebrating and acknowledging consistent/high attendance and working with relevant staff (e.g. Leadership Team and Pastoral Leaders) to produce data and processes to recognise positive attendance.
  • Working with key school staff to produce and action attendance letters.
  • Communicate important information about students and families with school staff especially matters related to wellbeing, patterns of unexplained absence and chronic absenteeism.


Skills required for this role:

  • Interpersonal skills that foster effective communication with families including compassion, empathy and authentic listening.
  • Efficiency and organisation to respond to the daily communication demands around absence.


To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
