About the Role
The primary role of the Associate Directors of Academic Education is to work alongside teachers leading and embedding pedagogical development within the Primary School setting; focusing on the provision of a positive learning and work environment. They play a pivotal role to ensure the fidelity of programme implementation through critical and thoughtful reflection.
The Associate Directors of Academic Education work as part of departments and cohort teams to devise curriculum, promote effective teaching practices, and lead conversations focused on evidence of student learning which enables continual enhancement of professional practice. The Associate Directors of Academic Education act as coach for other educators; providing feedback, supporting to refine practices and data analysis to inform forward planning and teaching. They ensure all members of the learning community are informed and knowledgeable about the standards and practices of the IB PYP.
The Associate Directors of Academic Education are part of the Primary School Leadership Team and as such, the time allowance is 0.8 per cycle with a nominal teaching load of 0.2 per cycle. It is expected that they will be in attendance for the week prior to the start of the school year for teachers as to support new staff entering the school and be available for leadership responsibilities at the end of the school year.
About You
You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:
- Experience as a pedagogical leader within an IB PYP school
- Skills in creating innovative academic pathways that enable all students to achieve exceptional academic results.
- Strong curriculum knowledge and learning and teaching strategies from Pre-school to Year 6, explicitly with a focus on transdisciplinary learning
- The ability to demonstrate experience in the provision of Pastoral Care to effectively meet the personal, social, and academic needs of students to build agency
- The proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and inspire teams toward a common goal.
- Previous experience implementing initiatives, delivering projects and strategically manage change
- Well-developed administrative and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- PYP experience or an understanding of Inquiry pedagogy
- Commitment to the full life of an Independent school and a willingness to engage in School activities out of regular hours as required
- A proven track record of school leadership
All team members at CGS are required to have:
- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
- A current National Police Check
- Full working rights within Australia
- Excellent written English and effective interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent understanding of all elements of learning and teaching
